Now a days this is also called Ashtamangalyam lamp which is Kerala's ancient lamp which has a bowl in the front and a container for oil reservoir and spoon to pour oil for wick in the middle along with a handle. The lamp bowl can be refilled without letting the lamp extinguish even for a moment
