Azhi Vilakku Pair (Entrance Lamp)

The Azi Vilakku is used to light the Chuttu Vilakku lamps used for offerings in Kerala temples. The outer walls of the temple will be surrounded by lamps. When the time of deeparadhana comes, oil is lit in the lamps and prayers are offered to the deity. In Tamilnadu,  this lamp is called Vasal Vilakku and is used at the entrance on both sides of the door in the olden days.
